Carving with June Vaughn

Join us for this fantastic opportunity to learn from master potter, June Vaughn, who specializes in carving and decorative painting techniques.

In this four hour workshop June will demonstrate her techniques to design carve and imbed stones and found objects into clay. After the discussion of her methods students will get a chance to try out June’s various tools and techniques on their own pieces. Each student will be encouraged to bring soft leather hard pottery piece to use for the hands-on portion of the workshop. Her beautiful pottery will be on display in the gallery to provide inspiration.

We will break around noon for lunch: Please bring a bag lunch or Su +2 a popular lunch place is available across the street. Water and Coffee will be provided.

The second half of class June will demonstrate her unique style of decoration and her methods for setting stones and incorporating found objects into the pottery. Students will be given an handout outlining the materials used.

June Vaughn

June is a native of Sonora California who has relocated to  Wauwatosa Wisconsin.  She has over 50 years of experience as a ceramic artist.  June Vaughn’s unique style of pottery includes carving, tribal like painting and the addition of found objects such as stones, wood, shells and antler.  She and her late husband are emeritus members of the Association of Clay and Glass Artists of California.  Their work is also in the AMOCA permanent collection of ceramic art.  June is now a member of the Wisconsin Designer Crafts Council and enjoys showing her work both locally and in California.
